Question an employer should not ask during an Interview

Following is the set of questions that should not be asked during an interview unless it is absolutely necessary. This means that unless the job requirement is such that the answers to these questions serve a meaningful purpose towards the same, then only should the prospective candidate be made to face such questions. Otherwise, the employer, by asking these 'illegal' questions, is getting into unlawful territory and could be stepping into a case which warranties legal action against the employer.

Sample Question an employer should not ask during an Interview

• Which region of the world do you belong to, that is what your origins are?
• What is your native dialect?
• What is your marital status or relationships status or civil status? Are you married and have children? Are you a single parent? Do you have a girlfriend or a boyfriend?
• What is your height / weight / likes or dislikes?
• What are your disabilities, if any?
• What is your social status? Have you ever been arrested?
• What is your religion / sect / spiritual orientation?
• What is your age or date of birth? When were you born?
• What kind of credit history do you have? Have you ever been denied a credit or loan by a financial institution? Were you subjected to garnishments related proceedings at any point of time?
• How much education does your spouse have?
• What is the citizenship status of your spouse?
• Have you ever done drugs?
• Do you smoke? Do your spouse / children smoke?
• Has your spouse or your children done drugs?
• What is your sexual orientation?
• What do you have to say about other religions or religious texts, faiths and beliefs?
